Alfa Romeo 105 GTV 2000

Restoration process of an Alfa Romeo 105 Gran Turismo Veloce.

Extensive restoration process carried out on this 105 Series of 1971. When it arrived at our workshop, the vehicle was driveable by itself, but it required a restoration of practically all the important points. The operations carried out were as follows:

  • Chassis: The body was completely stripped to eliminate some rusting. These areas were cleaned and the car was repainted entirely in the original green colour. The interior has been treated with insulation for greater comfort during the use and driving.
  • Engine: a complete engine overhaul was not necessary. Its mechanical operation was correct and we only proceeded, for safety, to the change of liquids and filters. In relation to carburizing, a thorough cleaning of the carburizing systems was necessary, thus clearly improving the combustion process.
  • Gearbox and transmission: the operation of the gearbox was not correct until the restoration and in some moments the gear of the gears was not the precise one. The complete dismantling of the gearbox, the revision of all its components and the replacement of the most important bearings were therefore carried out. In the case of transmission, for safety, the complete restoration was also carried out with complete disassembly, revision of all its components, elimination of clearances and return to the assembly.
  • Suspension and braking: the vehicle did not behave properly dynamically before starting the restoration process. On the one hand, the handling of the same in curve was inaccurate. To correct this problem, the suspension system was completely dismantled: arms, stabilizers, original shock absorbers and springs were installed following the specifications of the construction of the vehicle and it was verified that all the adjustments were adequate. The brake system also produced inaccurate driving because its set-up was not correct and once cleaning, repairing and replacing, if necessary, all the brake calipers and pistons, not only the safety increased, but improved the maneuverability of the vehicle.
  • Electrical system: Alfa Romeo's electrical system required a complete restoration because many of its cables were badly connected, some systems were duplicated and all this always entails a risk of power outages. Cleaning and restoring all electric wiring harnesses have achieved a simpler and safer electrical system.
  • Interiors: in parallel with the restoration made to the bodywork, all the interiors - seats, roof, central tunnel and dashboard - have been completely restored, replacing all the fabrics and materials so that the car is as fresh out of the factory.

With all these restorations the Alfa Romeo has returned to have a second chance on the road and the customer will be able to enjoy a vehicle with the same features that just left the factory.
